PETE – Moving Manmade Mountains

This is a lively bio-documentary about an extraordinary engineer and an extraordinary man. "PETE" follows the courageous trail of Peter D. Friesen, from his humble beginnings in revolutionary Russia to the pinnacle of Engineering success in the United States of America .

A long time ago, necessity forced a young boy to think for himself. Under circumstances bordering on oppressive, he bravely began opening doors to his intellect, asking questions and learning to trust his intuition. With little formal education, he learned to fix things, learned to manufacture machinery and then to invent machines and design computer programs that remain state of the art. With vision and dedication, he rose to the peak of his profession. Along the way, he learned from his mistakes and freely shared his knowledge with all those around him. With passion and conviction, he found the door to his heart.

PETE is a story about living

This is an ideal film for any engineer who wants to see an inspiring story about the profession, or for any person, or parent, who delights in stories about overcoming obstacles and achieving one's goals. With archival footage and current interviews, "PETE" tells a story about surviving droughts and self-doubts, about overcoming pain and prejudice; it is story about land, country, science and power; it is about trust and determination, acceptance and will; it is about faith, hope and feeling.

Exciting time-lapse scenes show some of Pete's most famous, record-setting moves: the Shubert Theater in Minneapolis , the Newark Air Terminal, and the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which won the 2000 OPAL Award, engineering's highest honor.

Watch and listen as "PETE" tells his story and, in so doing, delivers his legacy of hope for everybody, but especially for young people.
